A Level Awards

A Level Awards are for students in Year 12 and Year 13.

Awards Programme

The Salters’ Institute has been a curriculum partner of OCR and Pearson in developing A Level Biology, A Level Chemistry and A Level Physics.

Year 12

In 2022 we introduced a new award for Year 12s. Students will be asked to identify a local or national societal issue and propose a science-focused solution that involves chemistry. This will take the form of creating a poster with a supporting statement.

Year 13

Our current A-level Awards focus on the top 5/6 students in Biology, Chemistry and Physics throughout the UK. These are the students who achieve the highest marks in the following courses:

  • Salters Advanced Chemistry
  • Salters-Nuffield Advanced Biology
  • Salters Horners Advanced Physics

Award winners are presented with a cash prize of £150 or £300 and receive a certificate. Awards are presented each December during our Annual Awards Ceremony at Salters’ Hall, to which all award winners are invited.

The purpose of these awards is to recognise the next generation of leaders in chemistry.
